Laives/Leifers is the most recent place to receive official town status in South Tyrol. It is located about 10 km from Bolzano/Bozen, and is surrounded by 500 hectares of fabulous apple orchards. Together with its three municipalities Pineta/Steinmannwald, San Giacomo/St. Jakob and La Costa/Seit, Laives has about 18,000 inhabitants - 28% are native German speakers and 72% Italian. The symbol and the emblem of the city is the “Peterköfele”, the imposing old chapel of the Lichtenstein castle. Laives is very central, so you can reach many destinations in no time!
